Housing

Housing has bring variety of problems such as land slide, deforestration and many more.

The word 'Housing' brings 2 meanings:

- It is a product (noun) . In Bahasa Malaysia is called perumahan.
The intention of the houisng is the effected by the cost which can devided into 3 categories: low, medium or high.

Intervention

Words is the smallest particles in a language.

What is the meaning of reproduce?
- It means produce again and again.

Why is it important to sustainbility?
- Because the earth is almost destroyed.

The product of built environment must have its own characteristics. For examples: The Characteristics of hydrogen are natural product, odourless.
The properties of built environment are scale, layer and special structure.

Cemetery is an area of ground, not a churhyard, for burying the dead. Dead people or ashes also cant considered as actors who produce the built environment.

The meaning of intervene is to occur or to be in between while the word intervention means come or in between.

Characteristics Of The Built Environment

At first of our lessen for the third week is the revision on last weeks' topics:

First Week:
The 6 elements which is actor--->intention--->act--->rules---> site--->product

Second week:
1. Actor (Dr. Khamidi and students)
2. Intention (introduce sustainability to be used as main idea/force behind their professions.)
3. Act (shared what he had studied, experimented and built)
4. Rules (3Rs- reduce, recycle, reuse)
5. Site (earthquake, prone, area)
6. Product (DBSH)

Third week:
Scale is relatived to another measurement. It is devided into small scale and big scale.
From nanoscale to celestial

object-->interior-->building-->premises-->urban-->regional-->global
(nano) (celestial)

The 6 elements with the characteristics of the built environment
Intention:
ideologies, design theories.

Act:
scope of work (development procedures)

Product:
design of physical objects to physical world.

Actor:
industrial designer (object)--->interior architect (interior)---> architect (building) --->lanscape architect (premise) ---> urban planner (urban) ---> planner (regional) ---> "Governor"(global)

Rules:
legal aspects of development.

Site:
from factories to the internet.

Spacial Contruction
Spacial contruction means see things in differet layers. We have to see 2 things that is node and path.

A path changes direction or stop there is called node. The node always link to another node.

Sustainable Development 2

1. Actors
Human being is the main actor for our development. We are the one who build those buildings, houses, roads and etc to get our live improve.

2. Intentions
To improve our living style, We have the ideas or plans to do somethings on it.

3. Make
After having the ideas and plans, we will try to follow our plan and build up those buildings or other facilities.

4. Rules
With following the rules, we try to build up the buildings.

5. Location
Some places like forest or jungle have been choosen for the locations of human development. So, the big amount of trees and plants have to give way for the ew building by the name of development.

6. Product
Development bring a lot convinience to human being. But at the same time, development also brng negative effects such as global warming, pollutions and many more.

Sustainable Development

Sustainable development is defined as "meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." However, sustainable development is the needs of the new generation. We all need the development to improve our life. Sustainability is included economic growth, environmental stewardship, social progress, social economic, social environmental and also eco-efficiecy.

Sustainable development is related to sustainable construction. Besides, sustainable design recognises the interdependence of the built and natural environment. It seeks to harness natural energy flows and biological processes, eliminate reliance on fossial fuels and toxic materials and improve resources and efficiency.

Therefore, there some new designs appeared which are design for demolishing and design for recycling.
Recycling------->reuse-------->reduce is also called 3R where is the one of the steps to reduce our disposal and rubbish. This programme would improve the bad conditions of our environment.

CHALLENGES AHEAD IN THE BIULT ENVIRONMENT
More people means more shops, more houses, work places, roads and etc. More demand of the products and services the greater the demand for lands.

more people = more cities = more impact
So, new ideas, new paradigms, new approuches to building and construction are urgently needed.
The energy consumption of building and construction is 10.2% of operation of building, 9.9%
of operation of business facilities, 1.3% of construction work, 5% of transportation related to construction, 10.9% of produ ction of materials for construction and 62.7% of other industries.

BUILDNG LIFE CYCLE
predesign ---- design ---- construction ---- accupancy

THE REAL CHALLENGES
Global warming is an example of what happen where we do not develop sustainably. Ignoring the issues of sustainable development has many possible consequences such as rising see levels, extreme droughts, erision abd loss of forest, increase in slum population species extintions and collaping fisheries. There is also increasing evidence that issues such as water scarity play a role in internal violence and regional conflict.

Adaptable building also means that a particular building system s capable of adapting to a particular situation or use ; such as regional and climatic variances that include social , culture and technical difference.

BEESTARI is stand for building environment efficiency as sustainable tool for asessment and rating limitiative.

Green built environment is one way to make a difference.

Rights or Wrong

For me, we live in this reality world. So, there must have the rights and wrongs or do or don't. We have laws, religions, moral that trying to tell and teach us what we can do n what we cannot do. Since when we are in childhood, our parents started to teach us the right n wrong so that we will not face the punishments. If not, our world will become worse n worse since there are many theives, robbers, murderers and etc. We will live in an unsafe and scary environment. There will be no more peace world. As conclusion, i think that we stil need laws to control human being's behaviors.

6 elements that produce the built environment

1. Someone

First, it must be someone who have the ideas to built something at somewhere for some purposes. They can be government, organizers, architects and urban planner and etc.

2. Intentions
When they plan to built up somethings, there must be the uses n purposes which bring the comfortable and convinience to human beings.

3. Planning
After the ideas are accepted, they are starting their planning and preparations jobs.

4. Rules
During the process, the planners will take note to the rules such as laws, religions, 'feng shui' and etc. These are done to make sure that the process is going smoothly.

5. Locations
After all has been done, the constructions or the projects is started on the strategy land or places.

6. Products
After a period of times, the constructions is done.

What is reading?

Reading is a simple, passive process that involves reading words in a linear fashion and internalizing their meaning one at a time. But reading is actually a very complex process that requires a great deal of active participation on the part of the reader.

Reading involves many complex skills that have to come together in order for the reader to be successful. When we do reading we use our eyes to see and read words by words. then our brain will process to chance into our knowledge and for us to understand. So if we are not concentrate when do reading then we will get ntg at the end.

Beliefs...

Belief is the psychological state in which an individual is convinced of the truth of a proposition. Like the related concepts truth, knowledge, and wisdom, there is no precise definition of belief on which scholars agree, but rather numerous theories and continued debate about the nature of belief.

why human being has been created?

In my opinion, human being is created by the process called evolution. This is the process that cannot be controlled. Because of the evolution, that's what we have today.

Where do human being come from?

I think that the human being is came from the evolution. Human being is changed from monkey. Then slowly become how we looked like now...

Built Environment

The phrase built environment refers to the manmade surroundings that provide the setting for human activity, ranging from the large-scale civic surroundings to the personal places.
In architecture and environmental psychology, the phrase is a useful acknowledgement that a small fraction of buildings constructed annually, even in the industrialized world, are designed by architects, and that users of the built environment encounter issues that cross the traditional professional boundaries between urban planners, traffic engineers, zoning authorities, architects, interior designers, industrial designers, etc. Historically, much of the built environment has taken the form of vernacular architecture, and this is still the case in large parts of the world. In the industrialized world, many buildings are produced by large scale development remote from its eventual users.
In landscape architecture, the built environment is identified as opposed to the natural environment, with the recognition that places like Central Park may have the look, feel, and nourishing quality of natural surroundings while being completely artificial and "built", thus blurring the line between the two.
In urban planning, the phrase connotes the idea that a large percentage of the human environment is manmade, and these artificial surroundings are so extensive and cohesive that they function as organisms in the consumption of resources, disposal of wastes, and facilitation of productive enterprise within its bounds.Recently there has also been considerable dialogue and research into the impact of the built environment's impact on population health.

In my opinions, built environment is needed to bring us to a more advanced world . All we have now is the production of built environment. Built environment is bringing us a lot of convinience and comfortable. But, somehow this will bring the negative effects to our earth and even to all the creatures on this planet. Like what is happen now is air pollution, water pollution, sound pollution n land pollution. There will be lesser and lesser green plants on our land. these green plants are replaced by all the buildings and facilities that we have now. Due to this, many problems such as green house effects is appeared. Eventhought human is keep on trying to improve ourselve but at the same time we spoilt our environment. So i think we must do somethings to save our earth.
